Heavy Steel Fabrication in Egypt: Structures and Duct Sections for a Danieli Steel Plant Project (2008)
Danieli is one of the world's leading suppliers of equipment and plants for the steel industry. In 2008, TARRADCO delivered heavy steel fabrication in Egypt for a Danieli steel plant project: large steel structures and rolled duct sections, with all cutting, rolling, welding, assembly and painting done in-house at our Alexandria facility.
The challenge
Steel plant components are big, heavy and unforgiving. Pieces had to match Danieli's engineering drawings and tolerances so they would fit first time at site, next to equipment designed in Europe. Several parts were too large to move as single units, so fabrication, trial assembly and transport had to be planned together.
Our scope
- CNC steel cutting of heavy plates on a cutting bed up to 2.5 × 12 m.
- Steel plate rolling for round and transition duct sections.
- Steel structure fabrication: large stiffened plate structures, fitted and welded in our yard.
- Trial assembly and dimensional checks before dispatch.
- Surface preparation to SA 2.5 and protective painting.
- Match-marking, lifting and preparation for transport to site.
Built to order
Every piece was custom steel fabrication to Danieli's drawings, not a catalogue item. Our engineers planned the cutting, rolling and welding sequence for each assembly so that the finished structures held their dimensions after welding and could be joined on site without rework.
The result
The structures and duct sections left our workshop assembled, checked and painted, ready for site erection. The project remains a reference for steel manufacturers and their equipment suppliers: TARRADCO takes industrial steel fabrication from raw plate to painted, delivery-ready assemblies under one roof.
